Motor Vehicle Accidents (MVA)
MVA traumas have a huge range in terms of severity and length of recovery.
The reality is that healing from an accident and dealing with ICBC and or lawyers can be stressful and our goal is to provide you with outstanding care so you can heal and get back to a stable pre-accident status or better ASAP.
We have written many medical legal reports, provided expert testimony in court and seen these cases close within a short time and last years. Many of our clients have lawyers and some deal with ICBC directly. Even payment for care from MVA’s range from ICBC covering the cost at the end of treatment to various arrangements with lawyers or paying upfront.
The good news is that your body has an innate capacity to heal. This healing energy travels through the central nervous system from the brain, down through the cord and from the inside out to every cell, tissue and organ in the body. Our job is to make sure your spine in aligned and has the proper curves to allow this healing energy to do its job.
A proper chiropractic, orthopedic and neurological exam (which may include digital X-rays if needed) will let us know if we can help. If we can we will let you know length of time required, cost and options.
Whiplash refers to a whip-like motion of the neck as a result of being struck. Whiplash can occur after being hit from the front, back or side but classically refers to being hit from behind in a vehicle.
This is a common injury and if properly treated will not lead to long-term consequences. However, this is often not the case as the classic treatment is muscle relaxants, anti-inflammatories, rest and “it will go away.”
Symptoms from whiplash vary largely but head, neck, shoulder and arm pain, lack of neck motion, headaches and sensory changes such as numbness and tingling are common.
It may be necessary to take cervical X-rays (we have on-site digital X-ray) as whiplash injuries commonly alter the natural lordosis (curve in the neck). This can only be diagnosed via X-ray.
We take a holistic approach because we understand that many things affect healing. After a proper chiropractic, orthopedic and neurological examination we will let you know if we can help, length of time required, cost and options.
I play hockey, my child plays hockey, I have worked with a Junior A hockey team providing chiropractic care since 2007 and I have myself suffered from two concussions both of which I lost consciousness, so I am very familiar with concussions.
Severity can vary from mild to severe. Common symptoms include memory loss, headaches, poor coordination and balance, sensory disturbances (vision, hearing and sensation), nausea and reduced range of motion in the neck. However, criteria for diagnosis of concussions is not consistent, and a bump to the head followed by a headache is often diagnosed as a concussion.
Once again, proper treatment is critical as concussions can have a major impact on current and long-term health. Sidney Crosby had followed conventional medical advice of rest and was on the verge of retirement with serious concussion complications. It wasn’t until he saw a Chiropractor, after a series of misdiagnoses, that the proper functioning of his central nerve system was restored and he recovered.
We have had the good fortune of helping countless athletes and people suffering from this injury because Chiropractic helps the brain and spinal cord communicate with the tissues of the body to allow proper healing.
