  • Spinal Decompression Therapy

  • What is Spinal Decompression?

Spinal decompression therapy is a slow, gentle and controlled traction for either the cervical (neck) or lumbar (low back) spine. This treatment is used for individuals with degenerative processes occurring in spinal discs, facet joints and their related soft tissue structures.

It is designed to improve the health of the pads between your bones and spine, which is technically known as discs. In the middle of these discs, there is a liquid gel that’s held in place by rings on the exterior of it. When an individual has poor posture, lifting techniques, or experiences a severe trauma, like a motor vehicle accident, it can cause micro-tears or cracks in those rings.

When that liquid is released, it creates a bulge, resulting in degenerated or herniated discs. The purpose of spinal decompression is to help draw blood back into those rings. As joint space is restored it pulls nutrients (water, oxygen, blood) into damaged structures thereby allowing regenerative effects. The healing process then takes the pressure off the spinal cord and sensitive nerve roots. By doing this chiropractic practice, decompression can help heal and improve the health of the entire disc.

This is where your experienced chiropractor in Victoria BC comes into play.

    Nonsurgical Spinal Decompression

Nonsurgical Spinal Decompression is a form of traction where we will gently stretch and lengthen the spine. By doing this, it will release the tension and stress on the discs, effectively reducing the bulging or herniated discs. As a result, blood will begin to flow back into the discs, allowing your spinal discs to heal.

This chiropractic technique is optimal for people suffering from:

    • Degenerative Disc Disease
    • Back Pain
    • Worn Spinal Joints
    • Bulging spinal discs
    • Neck Pain
    • Sciatica
